This little oval box bag is one of my favorites from the new season. It's handwoven in Bali from natural ata rattan, with a snug lid that closes with a leather tab and a brass snap, so everything inside stays put. The inside is lined with hand-printed batik cotton and finished with my small leather Crafts Love Dreams label.
The long leather strap adjusts with a brass buckle, so you can wear it two ways: crossbody for hands-free days at the market or the beach, or as a long shoulder bag for dinner out. One bag, two looks.
It's just the right size for everyday essentials. It fits a phone, sunglasses, lipstick, a compact and even a small pack of wipes, as you can see in the photos.

• Material: ata rattan, handwoven and sun-dried, then smoked over coconut husks for its warm honey color
• Size: about 8" L × 3" W × 5" H, with a 1" lid that snaps closed
• Closure: leather tab with brass snap
• Strap: genuine leather, adjustable with a brass buckle from about 44" to 48". Wear it crossbody (about 22" drop) or as a long shoulder bag (about 20" drop)
• Lining: hand-printed batik cotton (each print varies slightly, since every bag is one of a kind)
• A light smoky scent is natural and fades with time

How to care for your rattan bag
Rattan loves to stay dry. If it gets damp, let it air-dry away from direct heat or sun. Wipe dust off with a soft dry cloth, and for a deeper clean use a slightly damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, then dry right away. Keep it out of long hours of direct sunlight so the color stays warm and the fibers don't turn brittle. When you're not using it, store it in the dust bag I include, stuffed lightly with tissue so it keeps its shape. The batik lining can be spot-cleaned with cold water and mild soap. Small variations in weave and color are part of each handmade piece.
